Employment Bulletin Board

How this list works: OSPA will post job announcements on a first-come, first-served basis as a service to members. We will do the best we can to make sure that the information is accurate, but you can bet the occasional typo will slip in. If you notice an error, please contact us so we can fix it -- and leave your attorney out of it!

In the past, school districts have been very quick to let us know about openings and very slow to tell us about jobs that have been filled. To deal with this fact of life, the most recently received announcement will be put on the top of the stack. Therefore, the farther down the list you go, the greater your chances of running into an expired announcement. If the list gets too long, whenever a new announcement is posted at the top, we'll take one off the bottom. Hiring agencies experiencing extended openings will need to check back occasionally to renew old announcements that have been deleted. If you get a job, or hire a top employee because of this web page, please let us know!

Our first unsolicited testimonial:
"Due to my reading of the job openings on the OSPA site, I found a job! It's a great place to be. Thanks for your hard work with the web page!!"

Centennial School District has an opening. Once the position is filled, there will by four of us. It is a small district and in general there seem to be a lot of good people to work with. And of course, the psychologist group is a particularly fine group of people! 503 760-7990.

Out of State Job Seekers: All school psychologists in Oregon hold licenses issued by an independent credentialling agency known as the "Teacher Standards and Practices Commission" (Public Service Building, 255 Capitol Street NE, Suite 105, Salem, OR 97310.) Oregon does not have "reciprocity" with any state, but if you hold National Certification, some components of the Oregon application process will have been completed already. To obtain your license you will need:

Oregon has the entire range of job possibilities -- metropolitan areas, suburban zones, and rural retreats. Some districts pay well, others are notorious for their low salary schedules and poor benefits packages. Some jobs will challenge all of your skills, others will require nothing more than one IQ test after another. Some districts have a supervising school psychologist who provides case consultation and helps to direct your plan for continuing professional development. Others don't. An absolutely wonderful job can be found right next door to a terrible one, so be sure to ask questions during your interview.

Web-based Resources: Friends of OSPA have suggested a couple of web-based job search resources. These are presented on an "as-is" basis as a public service. As usual, if you find something objectionable or you have yet another website to recommend, let us know.

Good luck to you in your job search! OSPA hopes to find your name on our membership roster some day soon!
