OSPA is the state-level professional association for school psychologists in Oregon, affiliated with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The association's Bylaws define its purposes: to serve the mental health and educational needs of all children and youth in Oregon, to foster high standards of practice, to promote the interests of school psychology through research and education, and to advocate for the conditions necessary for effective practice in Oregon's schools.

The Professional Standards and Certification Committee maintains OSPA's positions on ethical practice and the qualifications of examiners, published in its Qualified Examiner position paper.
The Legislative Committee tracks legislation that affects children, schools, and school psychology, and keeps members informed with regular recommendations.
Members receive the newsletter (The Bulletin), have access to this website, and share through the members' discussion group.
The membership committee reviews applications, issues the member directory, promotes growth, and — with the Nominations, Elections and Awards committee — coordinates spring elections.
Oregon's elected NASP Delegate connects the state association to the national organization, attends Delegate Assembly, and coordinates NASP activities in Oregon.
From Article II of the By-Laws:
The association is non-profit, non-sectarian, and non-partisan — though it may take public positions on political issues that affect the education, health, and safety of children, or school psychology in Oregon.
The By-Laws establish five membership categories: Regular (certified or licensed school psychologists), Student, Retired, Honorary, and Associate (related professionals who support OSPA's goals).
Members receive discounted conference admissions, the newsletter, this website, the ListServ discussion group, and representation and advocacy at the state level — for dues that are low in comparison to many other states.
This website is the restored archive of OSPA's early web presence. As the association's 2001 news archive records, the site began more than six years earlier on a member's personal America OnLine storage space before moving to its own domain in the summer of 2001. The pages have been repaired and modernized so that the association's historical record — bylaws, survey data, position papers, and job board — remains available to members and researchers, while the layout has been brought up to current web standards.
